A coaxial tube combines a process-gas tube with an outer containment tube. The inner and outer sizes must be selected as a pair, with compatible terminations and inspection access. The white-background cutaway is an illustrative view of the tube family; confirm actual construction on the project drawing.
Technical parameters
| Arrangement | Inner process tube plus outer containment tube |
|---|---|
| ASTM inner sizes | 1/4–2 in in the catalog |
| JIS inner sizes | 10A–32A in the catalog |
| ASTM example | 1/2 in inner tube with 3/4 in outer tube |
| Example wall | Inner 0.039 or 0.049 in; outer 0.065 in for the 1/2 in example |
| Listed lengths | 4,000 or 6,000 mm for the 1/2 in example |
Catalog dimensions are selection references. Confirm the exact grade, finish, geometry and inspection documents against the approved order drawing.
Application and selection
Consider this family when a gas-system design calls for double containment around the process line. The annular space, monitoring approach, joint design and local safety requirements must be defined by the responsible engineering team.
