Bright-annealed (BA) tubing is a distinct finish selection from EP tubing. Use it when the project's cleanliness specification permits a BA internal surface, while keeping material grade, dimensional standard and downstream weld practice aligned with the rest of the line.
Technical parameters
| Material | 316L stainless steel; other BA catalog grades include 304L and 304 |
|---|---|
| Internal finish | Bright annealed (BA); catalog table lists Ra <0.5 µm for BA/mechanical polished |
| Dimensional systems | ASTM fractional and JIS A-size options |
| ASTM example | 1/4 in: OD 6.35 mm; wall 0.89 or 0.99 mm |
| Listed lengths | 4,000 or 6,000 mm for the 1/4 in example |
| Construction | Seamless for the 1/4 in ASTM example |
Catalog dimensions are selection references. Confirm the exact grade, finish, geometry and inspection documents against the approved order drawing.
Application and selection
BA tube can form clean distribution branches and instrument connections where the required finish is compatible with the process. Confirm the gas, moisture and particle limits with the system designer before choosing BA instead of EP.
